Since taking over Lae port operations, ICTSI has consistently delivered shorter berthing times, fewer berthing delays and faster truck turnaround times, increasing the overall the terminals productivity.
By the end of 2022, SPICT will deploy two state-of-the-art quay cranes, the first in PNG. These quay cranes will have capacity to handle bigger vessels, same as gear-less vessels which will significantly improve the terminal productivity with faster and safer movement of cargo.
This will benefit PNG's supply chain and hopefully increase the growing rate of exporters and importers in the country.
Additionally, we are continuously investing on innovation as we see it as a key component to the improved and faster container flows, same as for the benefit of the overall PNG's supply chain. Wherever possible, we are using advanced technology to automate, monitor and simplify port operations and customer service.
With ICTSI South Pacific's long-term commitment towards sustainable development, SPICT is shaping the Port of Lae to be future ready and geared up for transformative growth.
